Breast Lift Specialist in Portland

Dr. DeMars is a talented plastic surgeon specializing in a range of breast procedures, including breast lift. He has treated many women throughout the greater Portland area, as well as female patients from Vancouver, WA. He performs all procedures at his state-of-the-art plastic surgery facility, which is designed to provide maximum comfort, safety, and privacy. In the paragraphs below, Dr. DeMars explains his treatment approach and describes women who might be candidates for breast lift surgery.

A woman’s breasts often change over time, losing their youthful shape and firmness. These changes, including loss of skin elasticity, can result from pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, aging, and gravity. Heredity may also be a factor, which is why even a woman in her teens may experience loose, sagging breast tissue. Breasts that have lost their firm, uplifted contours can negatively affect a woman’s self-image and confidence.

What is a Breast Lift?

If you desire to restore the firmness and shape of your breasts, then a breast lift in Portland may be right for you. In general, a breast lift raises and firms the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. Sometimes the areola (the pigmented skin surrounding the nipple) has become enlarged over time, and a breast lift will reduce this as well. A breast lift rejuvenates the female figure with a breast profile that is more youthful, uplifted and firm.

Individualized Breast Lift Options

A breast lift is a highly individualized procedure, which can be completed using a variety of incision techniques. Dr. DeMars determines which surgical approach is best for each one of his Portland and Vancouver breast lift patients by analyzing the following factors:

  • Breast size and shape
  • The size and position of the areola
  • The degree of breast sagging
  • Skin quality and skin elasticity

Some of the patients who seek breast lift in Portland are women who desire to uplift and improve the shape of breasts that:

  • Sags or are pendulous
  • Have lost firmness and skin elasticity
  • Have a flatter, elongated shape
  • When unsupported, nipples fall below the breast crease
  • Have nipples and areolas that point downward
  • Have stretched skin and enlarged areolas

During pre-surgical consultations, Dr. DeMars emphasizes that breast lift is most appropriate for women who wish to improve the shape and position of their breasts. When an increase in breast volume is also desired, women should undergo breast lift in conjunction with breast augmentation. On the other hand, women who have disproportionately large breasts and desire both a lift and reduction in volume should undergo a combination of breast lift and breast reduction.

Breast Lift FAQs

How long do the results of breast lift last?

The results of breast lift are long lasting. However, breast lift doesn’t stop the clock; your body will continue to age normally, and you may see changes in your breasts due to the effects of gravity, aging, pregnancies and breastfeeding. Maintaining your weight and following a healthy lifestyle can prolong the results of your breast lift.

What type of results can I expect from cosmetic breast lift?

Breast lift restores your breasts to a higher position on the chest. After breast lift, your breasts will look perkier, like they did when you were younger or before you had children. Breast lift also corrects downward-pointing nipples and oversized, stretched areolas.

Can I return to work within a week of having breast lift?

Possibly, but it is not guaranteed. Everyone’s body recovers from surgery differently, and some breast lift patients need to take two weeks off work. During your breast lift consultation, Dr. DeMars will give you a more specific timeline for resuming work.

How much does breast lift surgery cost in Portland?

Breast lift surgery costs vary, based on factors such as whether the operation includes the placement of breast implants. Dr. DeMars will provide customized pricing at the time of consultation.

Will my breast lift leave huge scars?

Breast lift scarring fades significantly, although it may never disappear completely. Expect at least light scarring along your incision lines. Dr. DeMars does his best to minimize future scarring.

How long should I wait after breastfeeding before I undergo a breast lift?

Dr. DeMars will not perform a breast lift on women that are currently breastfeeding. He advises you to wait three to six months after you’ve completely finished breastfeeding before undergoing breast surgery. This allows your breast shape, size and position to stabilize.
