Patients frequently ask me why I went into plastic surgery, one of the specialties that requires the longest training (9-12 years after college). From 3rd grade I was convinced I would be a surgeon. By the time I was in High School my mother was the office manager for one of the largest groups of plastic surgeons in the country and I grew to admire them. By college these surgeons were letting me watch their surgeries during summer vacations and I found the combination of art and science fascinating. As the years of training passed and I learned more about the specialty, I grew to appreciate the large variety of surgeries my specialty performed and the great creativity many of the doctors employed. Couple that with seeing the great pleasure the patients had in their surgical results and I was hooked. It is extremely gratifying to see the look on a patient’s face and their new confidence after a surgery.

After practicing for over 30 years I still learn new approaches and better techniques regularly and my fascination remains intact. It’s a blessing to be able to do what I enjoy.
